learned this one tonight. one of my favorites by Josh Ritter. I won’t lie, it took me so many takes to get this close to right, and I know it could be much better. but I figured all of that work should end with some tangible result. so here it is. let me know what you think - hope you enjoy, and thanks for listening.
this song has been in my head for days, and I needed to record it last night. one of the most beautiful songs I know, and definitely one of my favorites. I’m no Josh Ritter, and I don’t do it justice, but I hope you enjoy it.
instruments I play: piano, trumpet, guitar, bass, drums, singing. I also took violin lessons for a year, but that was one of the biggest musical fails of all time. OF ALL TIME.
I’m just realizing how many videos I’ve recorded, and how many of them are just not very good at all. the changes in my singing voice from 2009 until now are pretty big. I used to be very very whiny/nasally, and though it still happens on occasion, I’ve improved that quite a bit.
it was nice going through some of my old videos. I’ve posted some of the better ones/my favorites here.
I love this song, and I love playing this song, but it is so hard to get anywhere near perfect in one take. so many words, relatively difficult picking pattern…regardless, I’m pretty happy with this attempt.
I recorded an audio-only version a while ago and posted it on soundcloud. if you’re interested, it’s available for free download here.
lemme know what you think! I was absolutely flattered by the response to my “Wagon Wheel” cover. I enjoy and greatly appreciate feedback, good or bad.
